What Is It?

The Harley-Davidson Road King is a fully dressed cruiser bike focused on highway mile munching and is powered by an air-cooled 1,340 cc (80 cubic inches) four stroke V-Twin engine which puts out 67 bhp at 5,200 rpm and maximum torque at just 3,300 rpm.

Features include:

  • Belt final drive
  • Steel tubular frame
  • Dual 292 mm discs up front with four piston calipers
  • 292 mm disc at the rear with four piston caliper
  • 41 mm fork
  • Dual adjustable rear shocks
  • 2->2 exhaust system
  • 5 speed gearbox

It's available with modern 64 litre hard panniers or as the Classic with fuel injection, leather panniers and spoked wheels.

The 16" wheels take a 130/90 tyre front and back.

The Road King model actually dates back to 1940.

Model History & Updates

1999: Twin Cam 88 engine (1,449 cc) with rubber mounts, fuel injection and maximum torque at 3,500 rpm.

2002: Delphi fuel injection and improved frame.

2007: Twin Cam 96 engine (1,584 cc), 68 bhp, peak torque at 3,000 rpm, 6 speed gearbox, 23 litre fuel tank, ABS, standard fuel injection and wet weight up to 368 kg.

2012: Twin Cam 103 engine (1,690 cc), 74 bhp, peak torque at 3,500 rpm, optional cruise control, 735 mm seat height and 355 kg dry weight. 17" front wheel and Dunlop D408 tyres.
