What Is It?
The Honda Super Cub is a premium retro bike with a hint of scooter styling and is powered by an air-cooled 125 cc single cylinder four stroke engine, producing 9.5 bhp at 7,500 rpm and maximum torque at 5,000 rpm. It's actually closely related to the fuel injected Grom engine.
Features include:
- Steel tubular frame
- 4 speed gearbox with automatic clutch
- Chain final drive
- Gear position indicator
- 220 mm disc up front with single piston caliper
- 130 mm drum brake at the rear
- ABS system (front wheel only)
- 26 mm fork with 100 mm travel
- Dual rear shocks with 84 mm travel
- Rubber peg inserts
- Centre stand, alarm
The latest incarnation of the Super Cub (with a 110 cc engine) has been available to buy in Japan for a while but now it's coming to Europe as well. The fuel cap is hidden under the seat and there's a little cubbyhole housing the tool kit on the right side.
Honda have even cunningly blended full LED lighting into the retro look, without ruining it and included keyless ignition with a dedicated button to ping the bike from a distance which makes the indicators flash. There's even an "old wing" Honda logo on the side of the steering column just like the previous generation Super Cubs.
It should appeal to anyone seeking a retro bike or scooter for town work, which has a bit of history behind it and an enclosed chain drive also adds to the practicality with minimal cleaning required.
The 5 Y-spoke 17" wheels take a 70/90 tyre at the front and a 80/90 at the rear.
The UK model doesn't have the pillion pegs or side stand but does have a cool luggage rack as an optional extra.
Colours: Blue/white, red/white
