What Is It?

The Kawasaki Z1000SX is a super popular sports touring bike and is powered by a liquid cooled 1,043 cc inline four cylinder engine, producing 140 bhp at 10,000 rpm and maximum torque at 7,300 rpm.

Features include:

  • Aluminium frame
  • Dual 300 mm wavy discs up front with Tokico four piston calipers
  • 250 mm wavy disc at the rear with single piston caliper
  • Adjustable 41 mm upside down fork with 120 mm travel
  • Adjustable horizontal Showa shock with 138 mm travel
  • 3-level manual screen
  • 3-level traction control
  • 6 speed gearbox

Improvements over the 2011-2013 model include re-designed narrower Givi panniers which slot into the pillion grabs rails, a shiny new muffler design, tweaked engine fuelling for improved mid-range power and torque and two power modes with low power limited to 98 bhp plus a milder throttle response.

Kawasaki have also firmed up the suspension, upgraded the brakes to monobloc calipers, added traction control, increased power by 4 bhp and re-designed the seat but it's 2 kg heavier.

The 17" wheels take a 120/70 tyre at the front and 190/50 at the rear.

Accessories include the ABS system (£400), smoked screen (£79), 56 litre pannier system (£405), 47 litre top box (£189), Akrapovic exhaust (£1049), comfort gel seat (£317), colour coded pillion seat cover (£123), engine guards (£148), gear position indicator (£90) and heated grips (£142).
