What Is It Like?

Honda ADV350

About me

I'm a 54 year old male, 5'9" and 73 kg.

Your biking experience to date?

I've been riding since I was 16. I've had 25 motorcycles and now 2 scooters.

Why did you choose it?

For a genuine change, practicality and fun.

What is good about it?

The comfort is extraordinary, it has amazing storage, nimble handling, good brakes, sufficient power and it looks great.

What could be improved?

Rear suspension could benefit from adjustment. The screen could be a touch wider and leg protection could be slightly more generous.

Any mods or upgrades?

None.

What is the economy like?

77 mpg / 17 miles per litre for urban riding improving on the open road.

How is the engine?

Smooth and sufficient. 0-30 acceleration is very good and it has enough power for overtakes. It cruises at 75 / 80 mph easily.

How does it handle?

Wide bars and small wheels means it's really nimble but it also feels planted and stable with a generous wheelbase. Turn in is quick and it holds its line really well. It does catch the wind on a gusty day.

What are the brakes like?

Despite mixed reports, the brakes have good feel and are good enough.

Is it comfortable?

Comfort is fantastic with at least 3 seating positions. You can sit back with your legs stretched out on the diagonal footboards or shift forward and sit 'midship' with feet flat or get close up to the bars and tuck you feet up slightly rearward.

How reliable have you found it?

No issues but only a few hundred miles done. The bike feels very well built.

What's the servicing frequency and cost like?

This is an economical bike. The usual Honda first service at 600 miles cost £120 with 8,000 mile service intervals after that.

To Sum Up

All bikes are compromises. The ADV350 balances comfort with performance, practicality with fun and affordability with well equipped design, beautifully.
