Triumph took the original Explorer, upgraded it and spun it out into three versions with ever increasing spec levels in the XR, XRX and XRT. They are mirrored by off-road versions in the XC, XCX and XCA.

Compared to the 2011-2015 Tiger Explorer you get a couple more bhp, Brembo brakes at the front and a chunkier WP fork.

The 10-spoke 19" front wheel takes a 120/70 tyre and the rear 17" a 170/60.

Accessories include heated grips, heated seats, hand guards, engine bars, radiator guard, Aluminium sump guard, LED fog lights, Arrow exhaust, panniers and top box.

Colours: Black, white (+£125)

Up And Down The Range

The mid-range £13,500 XRX gets you cornering ABS, semi-active suspension, cruise control, self-cancelling indicators, heated grips, hand guards and second 12V socket but it's 2 kg heavier.

The range topping £15,100 XRT gets you hill hold control, Sport and Custom riding modes, electrically adjustable screen, heated seats, tyre pressure monitoring, engine bars and pannier rails but it's 8 kg heavier than the XRX.

For more off-road focused duties Triumph offers the £12,200 XC which is essentially the same but with spoked wheels.
