What Is It?
The Yamaha YZF-R7 is a mid-range sports bike and is powered by a Euro 5 compliant liquid cooled 689 cc parallel twin engine, producing 72.4 bhp at 8,750 rpm and maximum torque at 6,500 rpm. Restricted for the A2 licence it makes 46.9 bhp at 7,750 rpm.
Features include:
- Steel / Aluminium frame and Aluminium swingarm
- Dual 298 mm discs up front with four piston calipers
- 245 mm disc at the rear with Nissin single piston caliper
- ABS system
- Brembo radial brake master cylinder
- Adjustable 41 mm KYB upside down fork with 130 mm travel
- Adjustable rear shock with 130 mm travel
- 4.5" TFT dash
- LED lighting all round
- Assist and slipper clutch
- 6 speed gearbox with gear position indicator
- 2->1 exhaust system
The R6 replacement is essentially a faired version of the popular MT-07 with lower clip-on bars, a 1 litre smaller tank, a new adjustable KYB upside down fork, new A&S clutch, more rigid chassis, optimised second gear ratio, a 30 mm higher seat and a modern TFT dash but it's 4 kg heavier.
The 10-spoke 17" wheels take a Bridgestone Battlax S22 120/70 tyre at the front and a 180/55 at the rear.
Accessories include the Moto-GP style exhaust cover (£121), up only quickshifter (£134), soft side bags (£209), sport screen (£108), heated grips, pillion seat cover (£155), premium levers (£113 / £121), lever guards (£122 each) and billet pegs (£460).

- 2022: Black, blue, white/red/yellow (World GP 60th Anniversary)
It re-introduces the famous R7 name, of which only 500 were produced and Yamaha say it's actually thinner than the R125.
