What Is It?

The KTM MX 250 SX is an off-road focused bike and is powered by a liquid cooled 249 cc single cylinder two stroke engine which puts out roughly 49.9 bhp at 8,400 rpm and maximum torque at 7,950 rpm.

Features include:

  • Steel tubular frame with Aluminium sub-frame / swingarm
  • 260 mm wavy disc at the front with Brembo two piston caliper
  • 220 mm wavy disc at the rear with Brembo single piston caliper
  • Adjustable 48 mm WP upside down fork with 300 mm travel
  • Adjustable WP PDS rear shock with 335 mm travel
  • Keihin PWK 38 AG/TPS carb
  • Renthal handlebar
  • LCD dash
  • Kick starter
  • 1->1 exhaust system
  • 5 speed gearbox

The wire-spoked 21" front wheel takes a Bridgestone M59 knobbly 80/100 tyre and the 19" rear a 110/90.

Accessories include the heavy duty bash plate, chain guard and a huge range of KTM power parts.

Colours: Orange/black, orange/blue

Model History & Updates

2004: Engine tweaks, 47 bhp, improved powerband, new suspension settings and 98 kg dry.

2005: New lighter engine, Keihin PWK 38 S carb, more power, improved suspension, better handling frame and electric starter.

2007: Re-designed cylinder head, flywheel and 92.5 kg dry.

2011: New frame, new PDS shock, airflow optimisations and small power boost.

2012: Linkage rear shock.

2015:WP 4CS fork, Dunlop GEOMAX MX52 tyres, dual compound grips and new wheels.

2017: Lighter frame, WP AER air fork and Mikuni TX 38 carb.

2018: Transfer Port Injection (TPI) fuel injection.

2020: New lighter and stiffer frame, improved radiator, WP Xact suspension and slightly more powerful.
