What Is It?

The Yamaha Tricity 125 is a learner friendly three-wheeled scooter and is powered by a Euro 4 compliant liquid cooled 125 cc single cylinder four stroke engine, producing 12.1 bhp at 7,500 rpm and maximum torque at 7,250 rpm. The engine is the same as the one powering Yamaha's NMAX.

Features include:

  • Automatic CVT gearbox with belt final drive
  • Dual 220 mm discs up front with single piston calipers
  • 230 mm disc at the rear with single piston caliper
  • Fork with 90 mm travel
  • Dual rear shocks with 90 mm travel
  • Unified braking system
  • Bag hook, LCD dashboard
  • LED lights and position lights up front
  • Centre stand

Compared to the original 2014-2016 model power is up around 1 bhp and available lower down the rev range but maximum torque appears roughly 2,000 rpm higher up.

ABS is now standard, there's a new exhaust, the rear wheel is 1" larger, the headlight LED based, the floorboards more roomy, wheelbase 40 mm longer and the wheels / frame / rear shocks are now blacked out however 12 kg has been added to the weight.

There are also minor tweaks to the seat, the design of the rear panels / grab rails and fuel capacity is up a useful 0.6 litres.

Like other three wheeled scooters the front wheels lean when cornering but unlike others Yamaha has emphasised lightness and agility with the Tricity. Each wheel connects to its own fork, with one leg handling suspension and the other support.

The unified braking system lets you apply balanced braking force front and rear using input from both levers; it basically helps to prevent the wheels locking up.

Underseat storage is a bit bigger than the previous model with enough space for a full face helmet, while a new small cubbyhole to the right of the steering column houses a 12V socket to charge your phone. The 6-spoke 14" front wheels take 90/80 tyres and the rear 13" a 130/70.

Accessories include a small smoked sports screen (£61), tall screen (£150), rear carrier (£87), 39 litre top box (£127) and pillion backrest (£96).

  • 2017: Grey, white, blue, yellow
  • 2018-2019: Grey, white, blue
  • 2020-2021: Grey, white, icon grey (blue wheels)
