What Is It?
The Yamaha YZ450F is a dedicated off-road motocross racing bike and is powered by a liquid cooled 400 cc single cylinder four stroke engine which puts out 50 bhp at 9,000 rpm and maximum torque at 6,500 rpm.
Features include:
- Steel tubular frame with Aluminium swingarm
- 250 mm wavy disc up front with two piston caliper
- 245 mm wavy disc at the rear with single piston caliper
- Adjustable 48 mm KYB upside down fork with 300 mm travel
- Adjustable KYB rear shock with 315 mm travel
- Keihin FCR-MX39 carb
- Kick starter + CDI ignition
- 1->1 exhaust system
- 4 speed gearbox
The wire-spoked 21" front wheel takes a Dunlop 742F 80/100 tyre and the rear 19" a Dunlop 756 110/90.

2001: New 426 cc engine, 40% lighter Titanium valves, improved suspension and Aluminium subframe.
2003: New 449 cc engine, new KYB suspension, 52 bhp and 106 kg wet.
2006: New Aluminium frame and 5 speed gearbox.
2010: Redesigned rearward slanted engine with 5 valves, Mikuni fuel injection, TCI ignition, underseat fuel tank, 310 mm suspension travel, 6 litre fuel tank, 270 mm front disc and 111 kg wet.
2018: Larger radiator, electric start only, lightweight Lithium battery, lighter swingarm, revised engine with lighter cylinder head, tuning via smartphone app, launch control, two ride modes, 317 mm rear suspension travel and 240 mm rear disc.
2020: Lighter more compact 450 cc engine, improved power and KYB SSS fork.
